The G-8 Heads of State will meet in Deauville, France, 26-27 May to advance cooperation on shared concerns related to development, security and geopolitical issues.

In anticipation of the G-8 Summit, French religious leaders will host The Bordeaux Religious Leaders Summit on 23-24 May.  This global religious leaders’ Summit will provide senior religious leaders with an opportunity to discern deeply held and widely shared concerns and to engage in high-level advocacy in relationship to the work of the G-8 Summit.  In addition, the Bordeaux Religious Leaders Summit can make its own contribution to principled partnerships between governments and intergovernmental bodies and religious bodies designed to advance the common good.

The Bordeaux Religious Leaders Summit continues a tradition of religious leaders’ summits organized in advance of G-8 or G-20 Summits:  2005 United Kingdom, 2006 Russia, 2007 Germany, 2008 Japan, 2009 Italy, and 2010 Canada.  On behalf of the religious leaders in France, you are most welcome to follow the progress of the Bordeaux Religious Leaders Summit on this site and to use the materials below to advance better principled cooperation among governments and religious communities in addressing the challenges of our day.
